In collaboration with Artes de Mexico en Utah Summit Community Gardens, where Vicky and Maria Elena K’ulub offer an Indigenous Mexican land prayer for an annual Milpa Garden. Rooted in ritual and caretaking, the piece uplifts the unseen work of women whose tending of land, food, and community sustains cultural memory. Layered gestures echo Indigenous Mexican prayer practices and quiet acts of care. By merging devotional ritual with everyday stewardship, the work recognizes women whose contributions sustain cultural memory yet often remain unseen.

Tithing and Tending

36”x36”

Oil, Concrete, Sand, Corn Flour, Yarn,

Material Statement

Oil, concrete, sand from the Great Salt Lake, harvested corn flour, and embedded yarn combine to create a surface that evokes earth, ceremony, and domestic labor.
