This painting represents the visibility and invisibility of immigrants in this country. The labor and sacrifices of families who surround and build our communities, but often feel unseen. Framed within the Utah landscape is a representation of our communities' yearning to be seen and loved. Painted with light interference pigment that shifts in hue from every angle, so do immigrants change and rise to the occasion when their communities are in need. The ghosts and spirits of the countries, lives, communities, and families they’ve left behind after migration fill our memories and skies, so that we never forget the love we carry with us. It is transformative to be seen, and thus we see through sacrifice and love for the past, present, and future communities we all share.
