Art Work Statement: 

This painting is a representation of the visibility and invisibility of immigrants within this country. Labor and sacrifices of families that surround and build our communities but often feel unseen. Framed within the Utah landscape is a representation of the yearning of our communities to be seen and loved. Painted with light interference pigment that shifts in hue from every angle, so do immigrants change and rise to the occasion when their communities are in need. Ghost and spirits of the countries, lives, communities, and families they’ve left behind after migration fill our memories and skies so that we never forget the love we carry with us. It is transformative to be seen, and thus we see through sacrifice and love for the past, present, and future communities we all share.
