Nightly Sacrifice 2 is an oil painting that started my unseen labor project. 

This original painting uses a handcrafted masonic texture taught by a family member who has worked in concrete construction. 

Artist Statement: 

Nocturnal Sacrifice 2 is a portrait of my father standing alone at night, waiting for me after finishing his second job of the day. He works from 7 AM to 10 PM — an act of love and sacrifice repeated daily. In painting this scene, I wanted to honor the invisible labor that sustains immigrant families: the tired bodies, late-night routines, and silent strength rarely seen. Bathed in the glow of a streetlight, my father becomes more than a figure in the dark — he becomes a symbol of resilience, dignity, and the quiet devotion that has shaped my life.
